23 Incredible and Unique Lamps and Lighting Options

Sharp eyed Robot Nine readers will remember this Alien Abduction Lamp from a past post. It is the creation of Lasse Klein but as of yet it is not in production. This hasn't stopped Klein from showing the lamp via the website and generating tons of interest.

The Floodlamp is marketed as a desk lamp but stands 51 centimeters tall and uses 6 25 watt bulbs, so I am thinking it might work better as pictured on the website, as a side table lamp. Modeled after a football stadium lighting fixture, it might be right for a macho big shot with a HUGE desk though.

A trio of novelty lamps to set off that rumpus room. The green one at the top is a stumbling dandy in a top hat, smoking a stogie and making a champagne toast. He reminds me of 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous' host Robin Leach. I envision him on the coffee table in the game room representing excess, and the little devil and angel lamps on the side tables fighting over your moral choices. Or it could just be a lamp without all of the philosophy.

A simple design called 'Bird on a Wire' created by the design team at eos Mexico. Not available for disrect purchase but a creative and different way to illuminate part of a room.

Created by Lervick Design, the brain in this lamp was modeled on a Magnetic Resonance Scan of the artist's brain. There seems to be no valid link or outlet to purchase but too clever to leave out.

A nice twist on the usually dull under-counter lighting, these upside-down coffee cups send a warm glow onto your real cup of coffee on the kitchen counter.

The ultimate in coffee table books, flip this large book open and a full scale lamp materializes magicall to softly light the area. Very cool.

What to get the military person that has everything? A camoflauge colored desk lamp designed to look like a giant hand grenade that you turn on by pulling the pen. As you were.

Artist Sebastian Errazuriz created this horribly disturbing Duck Lamp that is a one-off. In other words not coming to a furniture store near you. One of those "I wouldn't put it on the end table but I sure am glad I saw it" lamps.

The Kundalini Abyss lamp is a flexible marvel that can be something new every day. Looks a little like my intestinal x-rays on one hand, on the other hand it's just beautiful. Visit Kundalini for a very nice shot of the Abyss up close.

'The Light Drop' by designer Rafael Morgan is perhaps my favorite of all the lights. Light seems to be oozing out of the faucets like a stream of glowing water. Coolest of all is the fact that the tap on top spins and acts as a dimmer control.

This Japanese creation is called 'Liquid Lamp' and appears to be a bucket of red paint (or a bucket of blood?) draining out onto the table top. The lamp seems to hover in the air above the paint stream. Turn your bedroom into a 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not'. (That didn't sound right, did it?)

Every housewife's dream; a little naked man lamp. Called the 'One Man Shy Lamp', I guess if your design taste makes no sense why bother with a gramatically correct name anyway.

These cute mushroom lamps look a lot like the one's in Mario Brother's video game. Push down on the top of the mushroom to turn the lamp on and off. These would be great in a childs room, especially since the light source is an LED.

What could be creepier than a lamp designed to look like a millipede. Calling the lamp 'Nymph' and making it a clean-cut shade of white doesn't help. I still think I might wake up in the night with this creepy light standing on my chest peering into my face. Ugh.

Don't throw your old bulbs away, turn them into lamps. Bulbs-Unlimited.com sells a kit to glue and snap your old bulbs together into unique sculptures. Fill your home with an array of unique creations. Supply your next garage sale with a large inventory!

David Wykes and Benoit Collette designed this prototype 'Paperclip Lamp'. Sleek and stylish it bends upward and is posable. It's the metrosexual version of the auto repair clip-on trouble light. As of yet the lamp is not in production but visit the beautiful and minimalist website to see more photos.

A lamp that is melting into the table? No, actually Charles Trevelyan was inspired by the movie 'Titanic' to create a lamp that looked like it was slipping beneath the surface of the icy Atlantic Ocean. Stark white, it does remind me off the washed out images of porcelain objects when they were videotaped lying on the ocean floor at the site of the sinking. This lamp surely casts light in a strange angle across the room, perhaps the way light angled across the rooms in the sinking ship.

This Dachsund lamp was surely a tacky joy in many a household. Unfortunately I could find no online source for this $50 weiner dog, um... beauty?

Crafty Spaniards came up with the idea of making this ghoulish lamp called 'Colgado'. That's 'Hung' in English. Creepy and right up Robot Nine's alley.

Rather than leave you with such a grim lamp as 'Colgado', we will end with the warmest, softest, fuzziest feelings we can find for you today.
