Books As Art. Not Writing As Art. Books As Art!

Robot Nine loves books.
Reading them, collecting them, the weight of the book in your hands, the smell of the pages.
As the world moves along we perhaps will become an anachronism.
Books may one day cease to exist as we know them.
It is sad for us but things like the cool Kindle from Amazon exist and will only get better. Ah well, some artists we have found are using books to create very interesting pieces that we thought we would share with you, since Robot Nine loves art as much as we love books.

Just pages curled into a stiffened shape. Sometimes the same thing I did accidently by leaving books outside as a child become art in the hands of a creative artist.

Books as the bookshelves, a crossing of lines. This reminds me of the Robot Nine post of images of colored pencils where the photograph was the art, rather than making art with the pencils.

Book stacks as canvas.

Sit a while and enjoy reading a book from my library chair.

The best coffee table book ever unfolds to reveal a working lamp.
Unica Home $95.00

Creepy, like some magic trick gone awry, the sculpture of a man created from book pages and sliced into a multitude of sections.

The above three are all books carved and cut into amazingly sophisticated and beautiful pieces.

Nicely done paper cutting art displayed well in small glass fromt boxes.

Alice In Wonderland comes to life.

The three wonderful creations above were made for the Anagram Bookshop in Prague, Checkoslovakia. Precious little information is on the website but it is linked in the sources at the end of the post anyway.
Robot Nine would love to own the giant octopus attacking the ship. Imagine that on the desk as a conversation piece.

Books as giant indoor sculptures that can actually be walked thorough. Let's hope the artist used some amazing glue to do this!

You are using a couple images of my artwork without attribution. I am sort of used to that but you've linked them to another product which really irks me.

I make the bookshelves. Please provide attribution to This Into That / Jim Rosenau and link to my site, www.thisintothat.com. Or, if you prefer, remove my work from your site.
