Dan Lacey, Painter Of Pancakes, Creates Susan Boyle Collection!

Dan Lacey is known as the Painter of Pancakes for his offbeat art featuring famous folks, many times wearing a pancake or three on top of their heads. Lately he has focused his brush on one of the hottest new celebs to hit the tabloids, singing sensation Susan Boyle. Robot Nine loves it and hopes that you too enjoy this gallery of Boyle works.

Now that's a happy Susan Boyle. Unlike the Robot Nine readers who we first introduced Dan Lacey to. We featured several posts of "bad art" and many featured President Barack Obama. This caused us at Robot Nine to receive our first hate mail, which made us very happy.
We felt that maybe we had finally made it!

She does have talent.
A lot of the mail was in the comments section and was along the lines of something like... You stupid twit, who are you to ******* judge art. You are a real D-Bag.
We at Robot Nine presume D-Bag to mean a bag of delight, or diamonds perhaps.

Unfortunatley we have adjusted the comments back to the old system which seems easier to use and all of the old nasty comments were lost. Yes, we are as sad as you are.

Here's Dan painting at his finest in his genre, the pancake portrait. When we say bad we mean bad in the context of accepted norms. Funny; paint a pancake on a head and some (like us) say it's bad, but when Magritte paints an apple on a head it's freaking genius. (Some comments said we needed an art eduaction. We would challenge these same folks to a test on art history at any time, and we would clobber them.) By the way, after all the nasty notes stopped Dan himself wrote to thank us for the coverage. Nana Nana Boo Boo!

Truth is, the dirty little secret is out. We actually like many of the "bad" paintings, and Robot Nine would say that owning a Lacey might be a smart move. Who knows what the future holds. Several decades ago my Dad told your Dad to buy a Warhol and your Dad said it wasn't bad art but he didn't want a painting of a Brillo Pad box.
Stoop!

Up close and personal with Susan Boyle.
So anyway, feel free to supply more hate comments or nasty notes at any time. It breaks up the monotony of the accolades and love letters we normally get.

Keep a stiff upper lip Susan, this is just the beginning of a new autumn of life career.

Dan painted Susan with her cat here, though this is not really her cat. Soon after the world became aware that Susan actually did have a cat named Mr. Pebbles who bore an uncanny resemblance to this cat. Coincidence? I think not.

As we were finishing this post Dan e-mailed us a file of his latest painting of Susan Boyle, finished just tonight. Another coincidence?
Mr. Lacey has been featured in tons of media including network news like CBS Sunday Morning and online on VH1's Best Week Ever blog and of course Robot Nine, and on May 31 Dan was the cover story on the New York Times.
How cool is that?

Find out what Dan is up to, where he is being reported on, and link to his art auctions or order a custom piece at his blog Faithmouse.
Also, as many of you are aware, Alan of Robot Nine is soon to start an Around-The-World travel adventure on a bicycle and Dan wrote to say he is creating a painting of Alan on his bike, ready to see the world. This is incredibly exciting for us here, and a great honor!
Even better, Dan is going to auction the art off on eBay and all of the proceeds are going to go toward the traveling expenses.
Thanks Dan, we are waiting patiently and excitedly.
